This colorful stuffed bell pepper recipe is an instant classic! Fresh ground beef, rice, tomato sauce, and a balanced blend of spices bring this unique dish together perfectly. The baked cheese on top really makes these delicious!

  • 6 large bell peppers
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 1/4 cup yellow onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 tbsp garlic (minced)
  • 1 1/4 lbs lean ground turkey
  • salt (to taste)
  • black pepper (to taste)
  • 14 oz can petite diced tomatoes
  • 4 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup Basmati rice (cooked)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 3 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tsp thyme
  • 1 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella

  • Preheat the oven to 385F and cook the Basmati rice according to instructions.
  • Prepare the bell peppers. Trim the tops off of the peppers and remove the ribs and seeds from sides. Place the trimmed peppers upside down in a baking dish and fill it with about 1/2 inch to 1 inch of water and cover with foil. Bake the peppers for about 20 minutes—this eliminates the additional step of boiling the peppers separately.
  • While the peppers bake, heat a large nonstick skillet on medium-high heat. Once heated, add the olive oil and heat that up as well. Once the oil is hot, add the onion and saute until slightly softened. Once softened, move to one edge of the skillet. Add the ground turkey to the skillet and season with salt and pepper and lightly brown. Toss the ground turkey and onion together and add in the garlic, tomatoes, half of the tomato sauce, rice, ½ of the parsley, and Italian seasoning. Season with additional salt and pepper.
  • Once the peppers have finished baking, remove from the oven and reduce the temperature to 350F. Drain the water from the baking dish. Turn the peppers right side up and fill with the ground turkey and rice filling. Pour the remaining ½ of the tomato sauce over the peppers and cover again with foil. Bake for 20-22 minutes.
  • Once the peppers have finished baking, remove the dish from the oven and sprinkle the peppers with mozzarella cheese. Return the dish to the oven uncovered and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the peppers are fork tender and the cheese is bubbly. Sprinkle the peppers with the remaining parsley and serve hot.

How do you Make Baked Tilapia from Scratch?

The best way to cook tilapia is in the oven. You’ll heat your oven to 375F and spray nonstick spray on a baking dish. Then whisk the melted butter with lemon juice and zest. Pat the fish down with a paper towel and season both sides well with salt and pepper, then put them in the baking dish. Drizzle that lemon-butter mixture on top. Bake 10 to 12 minutes and garnish with lemon slices, parsley, and if you want, red pepper flakes.

Expert Tips and Tricks for the Perfect Tilapia Every Time

  • Choose fresh tilapia. If it’s at all possible, get it fresh. Frozen will work fine too, just remember to thaw it first.
  • Don’t skip the lemon zest. If you’ve only been adding lemon to your fish dishes, you’ll see how lemon zest makes all the difference. It adds so much more flavor, plus a pretty pop of color too.
  • Reduce sodium with unsalted butter. To trim a little sodium out of this dish, use unsalted butter. But don’t forget to salt the dish if you do!
  • Don’t overcook the fish. Tilapia is perfectly cooked when it is white and flakes easily with a fork. When cooking tilapia in the oven be careful not to overcook it.

How do you Make Pound Cake from Scratch?

When making this old fashioned pound cake recipe you’ll start by greasing your Bundt pan with both shortening and then flower. Preheat the oven to 350F and get busy beating butter until it’s creamy. Scrape down the sides, then add the sugar and beat it with the butter until it’s thoroughly combined. Meanwhile, add the eggs, egg yolks, vanilla, and salt in another bowl using a whisk. Then take this mixture and slowly add it to your mixer on low into the sugar/butter mixture. Once fully combined, you’ll pour the batter into the Bundt pan and bake for an hour plus 10 to 20 minutes. When it’s ready, let it cool for about 20 to 25 minutes before removing from the pan and letting it cool fully.

Expert Tips and Tricks for the Perfect Traditional Pound Cake

  • Add the egg mixture slowly. Don’t just dump it in and combine. Take the time to slowly add it in to the butter pound cake recipe batter and use the mixer on low to incorporate it.
  • Scrape down. This ensures you get everything combined and doesn’t leave residual ingredients on the sides.
  • Use a knife to loosen the cake. When the cake has cooled, use a butter knife to help you get the cake out of the pound cake pan. You’ll then want to let it cool further from there on a rack.

This homemade pho recipe is perfect on a cold day or when you're feeling like something healthy. The traditional Vietnamese soup is robust and packed with several different flavors that are perfectly balanced.

Pho Broth Ingredients

  • 1 large white onion (peeled and halved)
  • 4 1/2 inch fresh ginger (cut in half)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for brushing)
  • 1 tbsp whole coriander seeds
  • 6 star anise
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 3 cardamom pods
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 8-10 cups beef stock
  • 8-10 oz raw steak (thinly sliced)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tsp fish sauce
  • salt (to taste)

Pho Soup Ingredients

  • 7 oz uncooked rice noodles
  • 1/2 cup bean sprouts
  • 2-4 limes (cut in to wedges)
  • 1/4 cup chilies (thinly sliced)
  • 1/4 cup white onions (thinly sliced)
  • cilantro (personal preference for garnish)
  • mint (personal preference for garnish)
  • Thai basil (personal preference for garnish)
  • Hoisin sauce (personal preference for garnish)
  • Sriracha sauce (personal preference for garnish)

  • First, char the onions and ginger. Place the onion and ginger on a baking sheet lined with foil and brush with vegetable oil. Broil on high for about 8-10 minutes, until the tops of the onion and ginger are lightly charred. Remove and set aside.
  • Then, make the broth. In a large stockpot or dutch oven on medium-high heat, heat the anise, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and coriander. Toss the spices around until they become fragrant, between 3-4 minutes.
  • Once the spices become fragrant, add in the charred onion, ginger, and beef stock. Stir and cook on medium-high until the broth reaches a simmer. Once the broth has reached a simmer reduce the heat to medium low and cover. Simmer the mixture for 30-35 minutes. When the mixture has about 8-10 minutes of simmering left, add in the thinly shaved steak so it can begin to cook.
  • After the mixture has simmered, strain out the onion, ginger and spices. Add in the brown sugar and fish sauce and add salt to taste.
  • It’s a good idea to prep your rice noodles while the broth simmers. Cook the noodles according to package instructions and rinse with cold water. Drizzle them with oil to prevent sticking.
  • Now it is time to assemble the pho. Add 1 individually-sized portion of noodles to each individual serving bowl. Ladle the hot broth into the serving bowls. Add the bunches of herbs to each bowl, and garnish with the hoisin and sriracha sauces and squeeze a wedge of lime juice over top. Serve immediately.

  • Use cooked chicken. Rotisserie chicken is the best for this because it’s perfectly cooked and you can mix white and dark meat for more flavor.
  • Adjust your spice. If you don’t like things too hot, you can use the mild version of the sauce. This is what I do if there are kids around so they can enjoy without feeling over-spiced.
