With football season underway, I’d feel badly if I didn’t share this Super Bowl crockpot buffalo chicken dip recipe with you. Instead of picking up that pre-made junk, this only requires a few ingredients and is so delicious, everyone asks for the recipe!

Best buffalo chicken dip recipe

Best Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe

Once, my husband forgot to mention some friends would be coming to watch the game. I had little time to spare in getting some munchies together. So I used my crockpot to make the best buffalo chicken dip and threw a few other bites together and voila! Now we always serve it for game time and other parties too.

Easy Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe

This easy buffalo chicken dip recipe takes just minutes to throw together. You’ll use your slow cooker for about an hour and then leave it on warm so it stays the perfect temperature for serving all throughout the big game!

Crock pot buffalo chicken dip ingredients

Ingredients in Crockpot Buffalo Chicken Dip

  • Rotisserie chicken – Shred it up so it evenly distributes in the dip.
  • Cream cheese – Use the full fat stuff and cube it while it’s cold.
  • Ranch dressing – Use your favorite brand (or make it from scratch!).
  • Frank’s Extra Hot Wing Sauce – A staple in any  Franks buffalo chicken dip recipe. Or any of Frank’s wing sauces of varying spiciness. When doing this for a dip for one of our kid’s parties, I always use something a little milder.
  • Cheddar cheese – Shredded cheddar of course makes anything better!
  • Blue cheese crumbles – To add that signature buffalo chicken flavor.

How do you Make Buffalo Chicken Dip from Scratch?

You’ll just take everything and put it in your crockpot, except the blue cheese. So simple! Turn the heat to high and time for about 45 minutes. Everything should have melted by then. Take the time to stir it every 10 minutes or so. After it melts, garnish with the blue cheese and set to warm. You can pair it with cut celery and carrots, tortilla chips, or toasted slices of bread.

I wonder of buffalo chicken dip thinks about me too.

Expert Tips and Tricks for the Perfect Crockpot Buffalo Chicken Dip

  • Use cooked chicken. Rotisserie chicken is the best for this because it’s perfectly cooked and you can mix white and dark meat for more flavor.
  • Adjust your spice. If you don’t like things too hot, you can use the mild version of the sauce. This is what I do if there are kids around so they can enjoy without feeling over-spiced.
  • Don’t skimp on the fat. The full-fat cream cheese is absolutely the best way to make this. If you’re feeling bad about it, serve it with veggies to dip in!

How to cook buffalo chicken dip in a slow cooker

Why does buffalo chicken dip separate?

Overcooking is the most common culprit in the separation as is cooking too hot too fast. That’s why the slow cooker is the best method for keeping your buffalo chicken dip in the perfect way.

How do you fix separated buffalo chicken dip?

This usually happens when you bake your buffalo chicken dip. If you follow this recipe, you will be heating everything slowly so that it will not separate.

Why is my buffalo chicken dip runny?

If your dip is runny, it usually indicates you didn’t use enough chicken or added too much buffalo sauce or ranch. Using low-fat cream cheese will also give you runny results which is why the full-fat type is best.

How do you thicken Buffalo Chicken Dip?

You can try adding more cream cheese, but the fastest way is to make a slurry of cornstarch and stir it in slowly until the mixture thickens up.

How do you make Buffalo chicken dip less greasy?

Making it in the slow cooker takes care of this problem. That’s because it slowly heats and combines the ingredients which makes it less likely to separate into a greasy mess.

Anything you can dunk in it is a good choice. I usually serve carrots, celery, tortilla chips, or toasted bread slices. Pita chips or fresh slices of pita bread would also work!

How to Store Buffalo Chicken Dip

You’ll want to let your dip cool first, then move it to airtight containers in the fridge.

How Long Does Buffalo Chicken Dip Last?

You’ll be able to enjoy your buffalo chicken dip out of the fridge for 3 to 5 days. If there’s too much leftover to eat it all in this time, turn to your freezer.

Can I freeze buffalo chicken wing dip?

Absolutely! Just make sure you’ve put it in a freezer safe container. I go the extra mile and put plastic wrap on top before securing the lid. Doing this, you can keep it for about 3 months.

How to Reheat Buffalo Chicken Dip?

You can heat it in the microwave in smaller portions though slowly on the stovetop will prevent it from separating. If it does separate, it’s still delicious though won’t look as appetizing.

Deviled eggs are a classic holiday appetizer, but don’t let that limit you to making them any time the mood strikes. This delicious snack can be made quickly and easily anytime. There are so many different deviled egg recipes, but my family loves this classic deviled egg recipe, made so simply and healthfully that you’ll have a hard time believing they only have 6 ingredients.

Best deviled egg recipe

Best Deviled Eggs Recipe

Why over-complicate things? When I see deviled eggs with tons of ingredients added in, I have to wonder why that’s even necessary. Seriously, fresh eggs need very little to make them stand out. Perfectly hard boiling your eggs will be what gives them the best taste.

Deviled egg ingredients

Homemade Deviled Eggs Ingredients

  • Eggs – Buy them fresh and you’ll see the difference.
  • Mayonnaise – Gives the egg yolk filling a creamy texture.
  • Dijon mustard – Adds that extra element to your filling.
  • Smoked paprika – It really brings out the flavor of the yolks.
  • Salt and pepper – Sprinkle it to taste.
  • *Fun deviled egg toppings – if you’re a bacon lover like me, feel free to sprinkle on some bacon bits as a topping. I love deviled eggs with bacon! And if you like spice, you can sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes for spicy deviled eggs.

Easy deviled egg recipe

Easy Deviled Eggs Recipe

Making deviled eggs only takes about 20 minutes from start to finish. The trick is hard-boiling your eggs the right way. You can see my post on how to make the PERFECT hard boiled eggs. From there, making deviled eggs is so easy!

If they’re scrambled I can only eat two eggs. If they’re deviled I can eat 20!

How do you make deviled eggs from scratch

How do you Make Deviled Eggs from Scratch

You will first hard boil your eggs in a single layer at the bottom of a saucepan and then put them in a cold water bath. After they cool, slice them lengthwise, pull out the yolks, and put them in a small bowl. Mix them with the other ingredients and stir until it has a smooth and creamy texture. Then spoon your egg yolk mixture into the egg white halves. Adding paprika on top makes a perfect garnish!

What to serve with deviled eggs

Expert Tips and Tricks for the Perfect Classic Deviled Eggs Every Time

  • Know how to hard boil eggs. Again, this is the secret to the best deviled eggs.
  • Use that ice bath. It’s not just about cooling the eggs to the touch but also stopping them from cooking more when they’re finished. This keeps the yolks bright yellow.
  • Don’t overthink it. Classic deviled eggs without vinegar taste best when you keep things simple. The freshness of your eggs will shine through in every bite!

How to Cook Deviled Eggs

Cooking simple deviled eggs begins on the stovetop when you hard boil them. Once they’re finished, it’s all about making that filling and chilling them until it’s time to serve them.

How long should I boil hard boiled eggs for deviled eggs?

They should be hard boiled for 10 to 12 minutes. Then make sure you put them in an ice bath to stop them from cooking.

How to store deviled eggs

Why do you put vinegar in deviled eggs?

Some people put vinegar in deviled eggs to keep the yolks bright. However, if you follow my method for making perfect hard boiled eggs every time, you won’t need it.

Can you overcook deviled eggs?

Yes, you can overcook deviled eggs by over-boiling the eggs. They will have a gray color on the outside and smell a bit sulfuric. This will not make for delicious deviled eggs.

Why are my boiled eggs hard to peel?

You didn’t use an ice bath. This not only stops the eggs from cooking past their prime but also makes it super-simple to peel away the shell without messing up the whites.

What can I use instead of mustard in deviled eggs

What can I use instead of mustard in deviled eggs?

If you want to replace the tang of Dijon, you can use horseradish, though is will change the texture. If you simply hate mustard and want something else, go with vinegar.

Is it ok to boil eggs the night before making deviled eggs?

Yes, you can boil the eggs the night before. But you should continue the prep by peeling the eggs, then cutting them in half and removing the yolks. Cover the egg whites and make your yolk mixture, putting it in a plastic bag with all the air squeezed out of it to avoid ruining the flavor.

How far in advance can you make deviled eggs?

You can go ahead and prep deviled eggs about 2 days in advance, but not more than that. Keep the yolk filling separate during that time and when ready to serve, assemble them.

Can deviled eggs be made a day ahead of time

Do you eat deviled eggs hot or cold?

Eat them cold. Deviled eggs are the perfect cold appetizer to serve with any meal. They look elegant but they’re very easy, not to mention, delicious!

What to Serve with Deviled Eggs

Well, you can’t go wrong with a roast, steak, or any holiday meal. Even alongside meatloaf, deviled eggs are a wonderful pairing!

How do you thicken deviled egg filling

How to Store Deviled Eggs

Deviled eggs must be refrigerated in an airtight container. Don’t leave them out longer than needed for everyone to help themselves to a serving.

How Long Do Deviled Eggs Last?

Unfortunately, deviled eggs don’t last long. You’ve got about 2 days to eat them all up before they go bad.

Do you eat deviled eggs hot or cold

Can You Freeze Deviled Eggs?

I don’t recommend freezing deviled eggs. While the yolk mixture can freeze fairly well, hard-boiled egg whites turn out rubbery when you freeze and thaw them. It seems silly to go to that trouble to not even be able to use the egg whites.

How to Thaw Deviled Eggs?

Again, I don’t recommend this but if you do, you should let them thaw in your fridge overnight.

My kids call falafel “balls of yum” and I think that sums it up quite nicely! If you’re looking to try something new or want a fun meatless meal, look no further than this homemade falafel recipe!

Best falafel recipe

Best Falafel Recipe

I used to stop in this one Middle Eastern place in the mall to get my falafel fix. But once I figured out how to make them myself, it was a game-changer. These are so delicious and wonderful on their own and in pitas too. You’ll see!

Easy Falafel Recipe

I know what you’re thinking because I thought it too. Falafel only looks hard because it’s not in your typical cuisine. It’s funny how we seem apprehensive about trying to cook something from another culture. Rest assured, falafel only has 4 easy steps and you will love it all the more because you made it yourself.

Ingredients for making falafel

Falafel Ingredients

  • Chickpeas – falafel with canned chickpeas helps save you time over dried chickpeas as you do not need to soak them (and yes, they work!). If you need to substitute out chickpeas, you can use fava beans in their place.
  • Fresh cilantro and parsley – nothing beats fresh herbs to brighten up any recipe.
  • Red onion – gives it some color and that signature onion flavor.
  • Garlic cloves – makes every recipe better.
  • Whole wheat flour – this one works best for me, but you can use any type you wish (even gluten-free!).
  • Baking powder – it gives falafel a lighter texture that you’ll love.
  • Seasonings – ground cumin plus a dash of salt and pepper,  are the falafel ingredients that provide the perfect well-rounded flavor.
  • Lemon juice – use fresh-squeezed to give it that Middle Eastern flair.

Hummus ingredients

Homemade Hummus Ingredients

  • Chickpeas – The star of the hummus show! If you want your hummus creamier, you can peel them, but you don’t have to if you don’t want to. Garbanzo beans can also be used as a substitute if you cannot find chickpeas.
  • Fresh lemon juice – For that lovely acidity!
  • Tahini – This condiment, made from sesame seeds, can be enjoyed on its own, but it is essential in making any authentic hummus recipe with tahini.
  • Garlic – One of the best ways to add that kick of flavor to any garlic hummus recipe.
  • Olive oil – Used in the blending of the hummus as well as on top as is traditionally served.

easy hummus recipe step 1

What is hummus?

Hummus is used as a dip or spread, made with mashed chickpeas that get blended along with lemon juice, tahini, and garlic. Olive oil is often used as well, particularly drizzled on top. Garnishes can vary from simple fresh parsley to ground herbs, nuts, and seeds. It originated from the Middle East and has been a popular dish ever since.

What is traditional hummus made of?

Traditional hummus is made with blended chickpeas, tahini, garlic, fresh lemon juice, and sea salt. It is topped with extra virgin olive oil and usually fresh parsley.

How Do You Make Hummus from Scratch?

There’s no magic or mystery to making authentic hummus. Simply open your cans of chickpeas, add them to the blender along with the other ingredients, and blend until it’s smooth and creamy. You’ll then scoop it into a bowl and add a drizzle of olive oil and garnish it off with fresh parsley and ground sumac.

Words cannot express hummus I love you.

How to make hummus from scratch

Expert Tips and Tricks for the Perfect Hummus

  • Save that chickpea water – Known as “aquafaba,” it gives your hummus a more concentrated flavor rather than just adding water. Also, add liquid back in slowly. This will ensure you get that perfect texture of smoother hummus that’s creamy and delightful.
  • Quality is key – Choose the best ingredients each time and you will never be disappointed with your own homemade hummus.

Hummus Recipe Variations

There are tons of ways to vary your hummus. I recommend making it once the original way and getting a feel for it. Then you can fine-tune it with your own favorite things like sun dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, pesto, roasted garlic, spinach and feta, and plenty more. It’s so much fun to get creative with hummus!

Hummus recipe variation

How do you make hummus taste better?

Taste is definitely in the mouth of the beholder for hummus. Whether you want to adjust your homemade version or one you’ve gotten from the store, you can add Greek yogurt, fresh lemon juice, more tahini, herb oil, chives, rosemary, ground cumin, toasted pine nuts or anything else fresh and lively.

Do chickpeas need to be cooked for hummus?

If you buy the canned chickpeas, you will not need to cook them. If you bought dry chickpeas and you don’t have time to soak them overnight in cold water, you can boil them for 30 minutes on the stove top with some baking soda to help breakdown the chickpea skins, cool them, and then they will be ready. Alternatively, you can use a pressure cooker to cook them as well.

Is hummus vegan?

Yes, hummus is completely vegan so everyone can enjoy it.

Is hummus fattening or good for you?

The good news is that this is a healthy hummus recipe since it has good fats from the olive oil and tahini. It also has lots of plant-based protein and fiber which will keep you fuller longer, making it a great snack.

Why is my homemade hummus bitter?

If your hummus tastes bitter, you’re not using enough tahini or using the right brand. You can always make this hummus recipe without tahini, but tahini is what makes it authentic to traditional hummus.

What can be used instead of tahini in hummus?

You can make homemade hummus without tahini. Replace it with any nut butter such as cashew or almond. Sunflower seed butter is a nice replacement for tahini. Sesame oil and sesame seeds may be used instead of hummus as well.

Which tahini is best for hummus?

Joyva Sesame Tahini is what I used in this recipe. It’s salty and savory, perfect for a traditional hummus recipe.

Easy homemade chickpea hummus

What to Serve with Hummus?

Pita bread or chips are always a good thing to scoop up creamy hummus with. You can also cut up fresh veggies like carrots, celery, cucumbers, and bell peppers to dunk into your homemade hummus. Try using your hummus on sandwiches and in wraps too for a healthier way to bring them together.

How to Store Hummus?

You’ll need to keep your homemade hummus refrigerated. Use a good airtight container and you can count on it for about 4 to 7 days. You can also freeze hummus if you keep it in a heavy-duty freezer bag.

Can you freeze hummus?

Yes, you can freeze hummus. Just put it in an airtight container that is freezer-safe. Don’t fill it all the way to the top either since it will expand during the freezing process.

Best meatball recipe

Best Meatball Recipe

Honestly, this is the best meatball recipe you’ll find. By using a blend of ground meats and ricotta cheese, you get a sensational flavor and texture. My family loves this and the kids love helping make it too. It’s good for a cozy family dinner or for when company comes. Who doesn’t love meatballs?!?

Easy Meatball Recipe

I know making something for the first time always seems tricky. But I promise this easy meatball recipe won’t trip you up. Simply follow the instructions below and you’ll soon be a meatball-making pro!

Ingredients for making meatballs

Meatball Ingredients

  • Ground beef & Ground pork – I use both ground beef and ground pork. This ensures a nice level of fattiness without being too fatty
  • Eggs – beaten eggs help bind the meatballs together by adding enough moisture
  • Breadcrumbs – And yes, you need these too because of balance! I use plain but you can use Italian style. I recommend plain though because this recipe uses fresh garlic, parsley and basil which makes it taste so fresh and delicious!

My secret ingredient in this baked meatball recipe is ricotta cheese. Trust me, it gives these meatballs an extra-heavenly texture!

Easy meatball recipe

How do You Make Meatballs from Scratch

Making this baked meatball recipe is one of the easiest things you can do for dinner any night. I used to buy the bags of meatballs thinking that was an easy shortcut, but this way I know what I’m putting into it and that I’m using fresh and unprocessed ingredients.

It only takes combining the ingredients, rolling them into balls, and baking. Well, it’s a little more detailed than that, but you get the idea. Just follow my steps below and you’ll be making homemade meatballs in no time.

How to make meatballs

Expert Tips and Tricks for the Perfect Meatballs

The first time I ever made meatballs, they didn’t turn out very good at all. They fell apart and were a total mess. I think my husband only ate them to be polite. But now I know what to do. Here are a few tips:

  • Don’t mix it too much – you only need to mix everything together until it’s just combined or it will leave you with tough meatballs!
  • Keep the size the same – If not, they all cook at different rates. A scooper will help you make them one size.
  • Use pork AND beef – There are all beef meatballs and all pork meatballs, however by using a 50/50 blend of pork and beef it gives your meatballs a perfect amount of fat to make them juicy.

You’re the meatball to my spaghetti.

What is the secret to good meatballs?

Using a mixture of pork and beef adds just the right richness. A balance of moisture with ingredients plus baking over frying will also render your meatballs with a flavorful and juicy texture everyone will love.

Why do you put milk in meatballs?

In this simple meatball recipe, milk is used to add moisture to the breadcrumbs. This then renders the ingredients together and allows for light, airy, and absolutely scrumptious meatballs.

How many eggs does it take to make a pound of meat for meatballs?

You will want one egg per pound of meat. As this recipe uses a pound of ground beef and a pound of ground pork, you’ll want to be sure to include 2 eggs in your mixture.

Why do you put egg and breadcrumbs in meatballs?

Eggs and breadcrumbs bind the meatball mixture together. Some say this is for moisture, but that’s where the milk comes in so that all together, you get the best meatballs ever!

Are breadcrumbs necessary for meatballs?

Yes, breadcrumbs are a must for your best meatballs. They will bind with the moist ingredients to keep them perfectly together.

How to cook meatballs

How to Make Meatballs by Hand

Making meatballs by hand is a really fun thing to do. I like to use those disposable gloves to keep my hands from getting covered with meatball mixture. It helps me roll them too. A cookie scoop can make it easier to get the right size but you’ll want to roll them briefly in your hands to get a smoothed, round appearance.

How do you make a meatball?

All you need to do is round up the ingredients listed below, combine them without over-blending, and roll into balls. That’s it!

What makes a great meatball?

I think the mixture of the 2 ground meats is key as is adding ricotta cheese. I know most people add eggs and breadcrumbs, but ricotta makes a difference. So does fresh herbs! You can use dried, but fresh is so much better!

How do you keep meatballs from falling apart?

If your meatballs fall apart, what binds them isn’t enough. That’s why I also use the ricotta. It evens out the texture and makes all the ingredients to stay together while adding even more flavor resulting in moist meatballs.

How to form meatballs by hand

How to Cook Meatballs

There are so many ways to cook meatballs so if you don’t have time, you don’t have to bake them. You can fry them in a pan or drop them in soup or sauce. I love baked meatballs though because I can get busy with other things while they leave that drool-worthy aroma lingering around the house.

How to Bake Meatballs

This oven baked meatball recipe has a bit of fat in it which means you should make sure you line your baking sheet under your drainage rack. You’ll have much easier cleanup this way. A little cooking spray can help them from sticking to that rack too.

When cooking meatballs in the oven, keep your meatballs far enough apart. About half an inch should do it so they will all have the room they need to cook nicely. The browning from the oven adds so much flavor which results in very flavorful meatballs with restaurant quality taste.

What temp should meatballs be cooked to?

Meatballs should have an internal temperature of 160F to be cooked fully. While this recipe will ensure you get that right, you can use a meat thermometer to check them at the end of the baking time.

How do you cook meatballs without drying them out?

This recipe for meatballs includes 2 types of meats with higher fat content. Along with the other ingredients, when you bake them together, they will not dry out and will come out with a wonderful texture and flavor.

How long do you cook meatballs

Is it better to bake or fry meatballs?

Baking meatballs in the oven is better, health-wise, since you’re not using additional oil. It’s the best way to get that wonderful texture and great flavor without adding more calories and fat. Oven baked meatballs have a unique flavor without being greasy.

What to Serve with Meatballs (Side Dishes)

Meatballs are always a match with spaghetti and your favorite marinara sauce with a touch of olive oil. Though you can get rolls and make them into meatball sandwiches. A fresh salad with homemade Italian dressing, steamed broccoli, garlic green beans, or even brussels sprouts will make a nice addition to serve with meatballs.

Can you freeze meatballs

Can You Freeze Meatballs?

Yes – and that’s the best part! If you make extras, just let them cool and then put them on a baking sheet to freeze for several hours. After that, you can put them in a plastic freezer bag or freezer container. Make sure to label them with the date because they’ll be good for about 3 months and you’ll want to use them before then.

How to Reheat Frozen Meatballs

If you want to heat meatballs that aren’t in sauce, heat them at 300F in a single layer on your baking sheet. Cover them so they won’t dry out and heat until they’ve warmed through, about 10 to 15 minutes. In sauce, you can simply warm them over the stove in a matter of minutes. In a pinch, you can use the microwave but without sauce, you risk drying them out.

Meatballs are very versatile and one of my families favorite lunch dishes to make after reheating leftover meatballs is a meatball sub. Simply place a few meatballs on a sandwich roll with some marinara sauce and a sprinkle of fresh parmesan cheese.

I don’t know about you, but when a homemade guacamole recipe hits the table, I’m ready for the fiesta! Why wait though when you can make it yourself? This authentic guacamole recipe is quick, easy, and delicious and is still my favorite appetizer on Super Bowl Sunday.

Best guacamole recipe

Best Guacamole Recipe

You’ll love this classic guacamole recipe because it’s going to be your go-to when your guac cravings strike. It’s perfect for game-day, for holiday or family gatherings, snack time, or to accompany your Mexican night at home.

Easy Guacamole Recipe

This super simple guacamole recipe is easy to make and this will show you just how easy it is to make homemade guacamole with just a handful of ingredients. You will never buy that pre-made glop from the store ever again! Now go pick up a few pounds of avocados and lets get started!

What is traditional guacamole?

A Mexican guacamole recipe is simply defined as mashed avocado with fresh ingredients. As such, traditional guacamole can vary by recipe as everyone seems to have their own way of making it.

Guacamole ingredients

Guacamole Ingredients

  • Haas avocados – You can’t have guac without them! Hass avocados at room temperature are the best avocados for good guacamole.
  • Lime – As mentioned, it keeps it from turning brown and also adds great zesty flavor!
  • Red onion – Perfectly pungent without being overpowering.
  • Serrano or jalapeno peppers – Guacamole needs a hint of spice, even if you keep it mild. If you love spicy guacamole, just add a bit more pepper.
  • Fresh cilantro – This delightful herb is the key to making authentic guacamole!

How to pick ripe avocados?

The ripening process for avocados is fairly simple. Look for that bulbous end of your avocado. It should give way to firm pressure. Also, make sure that brown stem piece is still intact. Otherwise it will let air into the avocado and it will get overripe. This might not be a big deal if you’re going to make guacamole as soon as you get home, but if you’re waiting a day or two, it will be.

The Best Way to Cut an Avocado

You’ll want to cut your avocado lengthwise. The pit will be easier to pop out. Then you can scoop out the flesh with a spoon onto your cutting board and chunk it up.

Easy guacamole recipe

How do You Make Guacamole from Scratch

The key to perfect guacamole from scratch is:

  • Finely dice – the ingredients should be in little pieces so you’re not getting giant chunks.
  • Lime juice – this keeps the avocados from turning brown and adds a authentic flavor boost.
  • Control your spice – peppers can add zing without spice if you watch the seeds.
  • Make it less watery – I don’t mind, but if you want your guacamole with a pastier texture, keep the tomato seeds and pulp out of it.

You guac my world.

Expert Tips and Tricks for Guacamole Success!

  • Use ripe avocados – If they aren’t ready yet, they will have a weird texture and flavor. And too ripe means they will have that weird lipstick-like taste. Yuck!
  • Keep it chunky – Some people make guacamole blended but it’s more authentic with chunks of the fresh ingredients in every bite. Chunky guac is more authentic and adds texture.
  • Use fresh ingredients for flavor – You *could* use dried or powdered seasonings but fresh garlic, peppers, tomatoes, and cilantro make the taste so much better!

How do you make guacamole taste better?

Guacamole tastes best when you use the freshest ingredients you can find. Fresh garlic, cilantro, serrano peppers, and onions are far superior to using dried herbs. You’ll have the best guacamole dip when you stick to fresh!

How to make guacamole from scratch

What to Serve with Guacamole (Side Dishes)

If you’re having guacamole as a snack, you need tortilla chips. But you can also serve it with your favorite Mexican dishes like tacos, enchiladas, and burritos. Guacamole is additionally an amazing sandwich condiment to kick up your typical lunch with a Mexican flavor.

Other Ways to Use Guacamole

If everyone is all taco-ed out, you can use that leftover guacamole on toast for avocado toast. Use it to make deviled eggs, serve with fried fish, dunk fries into it, make nachos the next day…there are seriously so many yummy ways to enjoy this fresh guacamole that you should have no problem using it all.

Should guacamole have tomatoes?

While there are many recipes that don’t include tomatoes, this guac recipe uses them. It’s a small amount and adds more nutrition and flavor to your meal.

What can I substitute for lime juice in guacamole?

No lime? No problem! In this healthy guacamole recipe, you can substitute lemon juice or vinegar for lime juice. Lemon is a bit preferred over vinegar but at least you have options for adding the acidity you need to balance out the flavor.

The best way to cut an avocado for guacamole

Is guacamole just smashed avocado?

No, guacamole involves more than simply smashing an avocado. You need to add pungent elements like garlic and onions, fresh herbs, and a bit of acidity to make it the authentic way.

Is avocado spread and guacamole the same thing?

No, they’re not the same at all. Avocado spread is plain with just a little spice and citrus juice or vinegar to keep it from browning. Guacamole is distinctive with fresh herbs and other vegetables like onions, tomatoes, and peppers.

What’s the difference between avocado dip and guacamole?

The difference is that avocado dip is merely mashed avocados while guacamole’s base is of avocados combined with garlic, onions, tomatoes, peppers, and fresh herbs and spices with citrus juice to prevent it from changing to an unsavory color.

Is guacamole gluten-free?

Yes. When you make it yourself following this recipe, you can be sure you’re having a gluten-free experience.

Is guacamole vegan?

Yes, guacamole is 100% vegan. That’s worth throwing a fiesta for all on its own!

How to pick ripe avocados for guacamole

How to Store Guacamole

Even when you add lime, you will get some browning if you store any leftover guacamole in your fridge. It is better to use a piece of plastic wrap actually pressed over the guacamole to remove all air trapped inside.

Or you can use an airtight container and smooth the guac over at the top to get rid of any air pockets in side as well. Then add just half an inch of water to cover the surface of your guacamole. Make sure it’s covered tightly and then pop it in the fridge, but be sure you eat it within 2 days.

How do you keep guacamole from getting brown?

Avocados naturally brown when exposed to air. You can’t stop it but you can slow it down using lime juice. If you can’t find lime juice, lemon juice works well too. Also, cover your guacamole with a think layer of plastic wrap actually touching the guacamole so no air is in between and seal off all the edges. These simple tricks will keep your guacamole green much longer!
