Expert Tips and Tricks for the Perfect Egg Frittata Every Time

  • Don’t skimp on the dairy. With frittatas, using heavy cream is the best because it has enough fat. Using lower fat options like skim milk or 2% will result in a watery frittata.
  • Cook your veggies first. If you throw your veggies into the frittata as-is, they will make it watery and ruin the texture of this dish.
  • Cheese is a must! Cheese brings it all together and adds a nice creaminess. If you don’t have goat cheese or don’t like it, you can use sharp cheddar or parmesan.
  • Don’t overcook it. Follow my egg frittata recipe to prevent this travesty so your frittata comes out with the perfect taste and texture!

What is the difference between an omelet and a frittata

Is a frittata a breakfast food?

It certainly can be a breakfast food, though a frittata can be served for any meal.

What ’s the difference between a frittata and a quiche?

When it comes to a frittata vs quiche, quiche is made with a crust. A frittata is more like a crustless version that has a creamier texture.

What is the difference between an omelet and a frittata?

Frittatas are cooked with low heat in a slow way as the oven provides. An omelet is cooked on the stove over high heat. Omelets should be served hot off the stove while frittatas can be cooled to room temperature and enjoyed.

What kind of pan should I use for a frittata?

In this recipe, you’ll use a 9×13 casserole dish. I find most people have at least one of these. Other recipes use a cast iron skillet.

Do you add milk to a frittata?

While heavy cream is the best for a creamier texture, full-fat milk can also be used if that’s all you’ve got. Avoid anything low-fat though or it will make your frittata watery.

How to Cook Frittata

Frittata begins on the stovetop by cooking your veggies up. Then it cooks in a casserole dish in your oven until it’s ready.

At 350F, your frittata will need to bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Make sure you check in on it as all ovens vary. The eggs will continue cooking from the residual heat when you remove it.

How do you know when a frittata is done?

The center will not be jiggly and your edges will be golden brown. If a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, it’s ready!

Why is my frittata watery?

It could be several factors. If you use low-fat dairy, that will make your frittata watery. Also, if you do not cook your veggies before adding them, they will release too much water and ruin the texture.

Why is my frittata spongy?

A spongy frittata is the result of overcooking. Make sure you follow the cook times in this recipe and check it before the timer goes off.

Do you add milk to a frittata

What goes well with Frittata?

You can serve a simple green salad, home fries, hash browns, or a toasty bread basket of goodies. For a brunch, I often put out pastries for the kids too. Frittatas are very easy to pair with pretty much anything.

What goes with a frittata for breakfast?

With breakfast, a fruit platter always works as do breakfast potatoes and pastries.

Homemade frittata recipe

How to Store Frittata?

Frittata needs to be stored in the fridge. Once everyone has had their fill, put it in an airtight container and refrigerate promptly.

How Long Does Frittata Last?

In your fridge, you can keep that frittata for about 3 days. If anything is still left, freeze it.

Can You Freeze Frittata?

Yes, you can freeze a frittata. The best way is to slice it into pieces and put it on a baking sheet. Once they freeze, move them to an airtight container. This way, you can easily heat them for individual servings or all together. You should use your frittata from the freezer within 2 to 3 months.

How to Reheat Frittata?

You can heat them from frozen at 275F for 20 minutes. This will warm it up without ruining the texture.

Easy Donut Recipe

This yeast donut recipe might seem like a lot, but these are common ingredients you’ve likely got in your kitchen already. The prep takes some time, but most of it is waiting for your donut dough to rise. Once the dough is ready, it takes just minutes to fry up your donuts.

How to cook donuts

Scroll down for step by step instructions for how to make donuts but the gist is this: you make the dough by starting with warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let that sit together for 5 minutes. It’s ready when frothy. That goes in your stand mixer with the eggs, butter, vanilla, nutmeg, salt, and some of the flour. Beat and add the rest of the flour until it resembles dough. Then knead it on a floured surface to make a ball. Grease a bowl and put the dough in, cover it, and let it rise for 2 hours. Punch it again then roll it out and cut donuts out of the dough. Heat oil in a pot and put a few donuts in cooking them one minute per side. Let them drain off on wire racks, make your glaze, and voila! You’ve got donuts!

  • Donut holes! Don’t forget to make the donut holes, they are often the kids favorites!

This light and fluffy homemade glazed donut recipe is so fun and easy. My kids love to help make doughnuts in the morning. Its fun for the whole family! Be sure to follow the instructions closely.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk (warmed to 110F)
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 ground nutmeg
  • salt (pinch)
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 quarts vegetable oil

Donut Glaze Recipe

  • 2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  • First, prepare the dough. Whisk the warm milk, yeast, and sugar together. Set aside and allow to sit for 5 minutes. The mixture should be frothy on top after 5 minutes.
  • After 5 minutes, add the yeast mixture into a stand mixer. Add the eggs, butter, vanilla, nutmeg, salt, and 2 cups of the flour into the stand mixer. Beat on low speed and scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed. Add the remaining flour until the dough comes together, around 2 minutes.
  • Once the dough comes together, knead on a lightly floured surface and form into a smooth ball. Grease a large bowl with oil and place the dough in the bowl, ensuring it’s fully coated with oil on all sides. Cover and allow the rise for about 2 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Use a rolling pin to roll the dough out until it is 1/2 inch thick. Use a 3.5 inch donut cutter to cut into 12 donuts. Place the donuts on baking sheets lined with parchment paper and cover.
  • In a large pot, heat the oil to 375 F. Add 2-3 donut at a time and cook for a minute per side. Place the donuts on a wire rack. Now, make the glaze. Whisk all of the glaze ingredients together and dip the warm donuts into the glaze, making sure to coat both sets. Wait for the glaze to harden and then enjoy!

  • 2 jumbo eggs (room temperature)
  • 7 tbsp butter (melted)

  • Once the dough as doubled in size it is time to assemble the cinnamon rolls. Sprinkle a large work surface with flour. Take the dough out of the bowl, gently pressing the gas out and forming it into a rectangle. With a rolling pin, roll the dough out into at 24x12 inch rectangle, then spread the filling all over the dough. Roll the dough lengthwise to form a tightly formed log, then cut into 12 equally sized rolls. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover and let rise until doubled in size.
  • While the rolls rise, preheat the oven to 350F and begin making your cream cheese icing. In a medium bowl, mix together the cream cheese, butter, powdered, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt on medium speed with a hand mixer and set aside.
  • Once the rolls have fully proved, place in the oven at 350F and bake for 18-20 minutes. Once baked, spread with the cream cheese icing. Allow to cool for a few minutes and then serve warm. Enjoy!

How to make fluffy pancakes

Expert Tips and Tricks for the Perfect Pancakes

  • Check the baking powder – most people never think to check the expiration date on their baking powder. If your baking powder is old or expired, you will find that your pancakes will come out flat instead of fluffy.
  • Sift your dry ingredients – by sifting or whisking your dry ingredients you will avoid getting lumps in your pancakes and will end up with a deliciously smooth texture to your pancakes.
  • Do not overmix – when learning how to make pancake batter, avoid over-mixing the batter as it will change the texture of the pancakes.
  • Use oil – use oil or oil cooking spray over butter when cooking pancakes. Butter can brown and burn more easily than oil. Oil will give you even brown crispy edges without burning them.
  • Go big – when learning how to cook pancakes, use a large skillet. Pancakes spread in the skillet and small skillets make it very difficult to flip the pancake properly. I prefer my large 12 inch skillet as it gives you much more room to get all the way under the pancake with the spatula.

What is the secret to good pancakes?

The secret to good pancakes is using wholesome and fresh ingredients. Additionally, it’s knowing when to flip the pancakes for the optimum coloring.

How to make pancake mix

What is the best pancake mix?

This quick pancake recipe is the best mix ever. You can always prepare the dry ingredients in portions and then add the wet ingredients when you’re ready to make them. Make sure they’re kept in an airtight container!

What to add to pancake mix to make it better?

If you have a box mix you’re trying to perk up, try adding just a shake of baking soda, some vanilla, or sugar. You can also add a little bit of maple syrup to the batter.

Are Pancakes Gluten-free?

No, but with a few simple tweaks, you can make them gluten-free by using gluten-free flour.

Are Pancakes Vegan?

Because pancakes use eggs, butter, and milk, they are not vegan. But you can make vegan pancakes by subbing vegetable oil for butter, omitting the eggs, and using soy milk instead of dairy milk.

How do you make fluffy pancakes from scratch?

If you want fluffy pancakes, this is an important step to follow in the recipe. The secret is in the eggs. Separating them is the key to these fluffy results and it takes no extra time or stress. Once you do it this way, you’ll never go back to simply chucking eggs into your mix.

What is the secret to light fluffy pancakes?

Some people use vinegar and baking soda, but in this recipe, I use baking powder, flour, and separate the whites and yolks of the eggs which makes it fluffy beyond belief.

Does milk or water make pancakes fluffier?

Milk is best because it adds flavor as well as fat to make your pancakes taste better. They’ll have a more amazing texture than with water. Of course, if you’re out of milk, you can use water, but it won’t be the same.

Avocado toast will taste bland if you don’t use the right ingredients. Choose bread that is healthful and flavorful and fresh avocados. How you season it will bring out the best in this meal. Even with my simple seasonings, you’ll get a crunchy, creamy texture with balanced flavor and a hint of red pepper to embolden it.

What to serve with avocado toast

What spices go well with avocado toast?

The sky is the limit with spices on your avocado toast! This recipe uses salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, but you can add in anything that you enjoy such as garlic, Cajun spice, or even Old Bay seasoning.

Best Seasonings to use on Avocado Toast

In this avocado and egg toast recipe, I use salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes to go with the lime juice and cilantro. But you can add in others to your liking. Cumin and garlic would also work wonderfully as avocado toast toppings. If you hate cilantro, make sure you use another fresh herb in its place. That freshness is what really makes for the best avocado toast seasoning.

What do you put on top of avocado toast?

Eggs are a perfect match to put on your avocado toast, though you can feel free to experiment. Bacon, salsa, tomatoes and basil, goat cheese crumbles, even a drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil and flaky sea salt will all taste delightful on avocado toast.

What to Serve with Avocado Toast (Side Dishes)

Soups are always a great choice with avocado toast. Chicken tortilla or black bean soup would be a superb match. You can also do a salad of mixed greens or even chips and salsa to go with your simple avocado toast with egg.

What drink goes well with avocado toast?

For nonalcoholic beverages, green tea or homemade lemonade are a great pairing for avocado toast. You can also have Sauvignon Blanc for something fancier or margaritas or a Bloody Mary, with or without alcohol.

How to Store Avocado Toast

By the nature of toast, it’s a bit hard to keep avocado toast in the fridge. Toast gets very soggy in there, so you will want to store the avocado mash separately in an airtight container. Because of the lime juice, it should keep from browning but you can add a few drops of fresh lemon juice to help too. If prepping to take for lunch, toast your bread and pack it separately without refrigerating. Bring the avocado mash and spread it on when it’s time to eat.

How Long Will Avocado Toast Last?

Your avocado mash for avocado toast will last in the fridge for 3 to 4 days. You can toast up as much toast as needed until you use it all up.

Is avocado toast good for weight loss?

Avocado toast can be good for weight loss since it’s only 45 calories per ounce. That’s much less than butter and jelly, but if you’re looking to lose weight, you should keep serving sizes in mind to make sure you don’t eat more calories than you bargained for.

Is avocado toast a millennial thing?

Not at all! Avocado toast is for anyone that loves avocados and wants a delicious and nutritious meal.

  • Salt – just a pinch adds balance.
  • Whole milk – it’s best for the batter to have a rich texture.

Is crepe batter the same as pancake batter?

There’s a difference between crepe batter and pancake batter in that pancake batter uses leavening agents such as baking soda or baking powder. This gets it to rise for the texture you know and love. Crepe batter doesn’t have leavening agents, giving it that distinctive thin and soft texture.

Tips and tricks for the perfect crepes

Expert Tips and Tricks for the Perfect Crepes Every Time

  • Butter – with crepes, you must add butter to the pan between every crepe you cook. It keeps it from sticking and renders it with that buttery taste and crispy edges.
  • Lift & Twirl – lift up the pan and twirl it after adding the batter into your pan. This helps stretch it out as far as possible so it has that thin texture. After all, crepes are supposed to be thin. If they’re thick, they’ll be more like pancakes, which isn’t bad but if you’re going for crepes you want thin.
  • Blend it – although I prefer to hand mix, you can use a blender to mix up the crepe batter more quickly. Just be careful not to overmix.

Best Toppings for Crepes

If you love sweet crepes, fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries, blackberries) and powdered sugar are favorites in my house for crepes. However, you can experiment to find your favorite crepe fillings. You can even have a crepe bar where everyone adds what they want. Try strawberry sauce, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, sliced bananas, peanut butter, or Nutella. You can even add savory crepe toppings like smoked salmon, capers, ham, mushrooms, bacon, tomato, spinach, ricotta, cream cheese, or pesto and sauteed veggies. The sky is the limit!

Make brunch for the fam fast, or have an elegant dinner. This quiche recipe is a favorite for my family. While it includes ham and cheese among the ingredients, you can use the basic foundation to make it meatless or add in other veggies. My husband just loves my spinach quiche recipe too!

Best quiche recipe

Best Quiche Recipe

The best quiche recipe is one that is versatile. My goal with this one was to give you a basic formulation for making quiche that never fails. You won’t ever buy one again when you can make quiche yourself with fresh and healthy ingredients you can pronounce!

Easy Quiche Recipe

Want to know why this is one easy quiche recipe? I know you don’t have time for making pie crust (heck, who usually does?). Using one that’s ready-made shortens the process significantly while allowing you to spend time with your family instead. While it bakes you can enjoy those precious moments.

Ingredients for quiche

Quiche Ingredients

  • Eggs – Nutritious and delicious eggs are the foundation of any quiche.
  • Half and half – This adds a rich and thicker quality when it bakes up.
  • Cheese – Shredded cheese is easiest to distribute. For the best taste, use 2 different types of cheeses!
  • Veggies and meats – While this recipe calls for ham and scallions, you can feel free to omit the meat, add to it, or use different veggies altogether. Ham and cheese quiche is always a favorite and one of the best quiche recipes I’ve ever had!

How to make quiche from scratch

How to Make Quiche from Scratch

Grab a ready-to-go refrigerated pie crust and simply prep the ingredients. This recipe uses ingredients you don’t have to cook first so you’ll only be spending 15 minutes prepping. Gluten-free or low-carb and missing quiche? Simply use a greased pie pan and omit the pie crust for a crustless version that will satisfy your soul!

How long should I bake quiche

What is quiche?

Quiche is a French dish that uses an unsweetened pie crust as the vessel for holding a mixture of eggs and cream combined with cheese, meats, and vegetables. Breakfast quiche is commonly found in cafes across the US.

What is the difference between quiche and quiche Lorraine?

Quiche Lorraine is simply a bacon quiche recipe. Not all quiche recipes require bacon as an added ingredient, though if you love bacon, you will be sure to love quiche Lorraine!

What to serve with quiche

Can you use milk instead of half and half in quiche?

Traditionally, half and half is used in quiche to help the eggs get that custardy texture. This recipe uses half and half but if you don’t have that, you can use whole milk instead.

What is the best cheese to use for quiche?

Quiche is best with a mixture of two types of cheese. Cheddar adds sharpness while mozzarella gives it a melty quality. In this recipe, you’ll find both types though you can substitute whatever cheese you have on hand.

Can you freeze quiche

How do you make a quiche crust from scratch?

In this simple quiche recipe, you can buy a refrigerated pie crust. But if you’d prefer to make your own, you will need all-purpose flour, unsalted butter, a large egg, sea salt, and ice water. Mixing these together will create a quiche crust from scratch.

Is quiche crust the same as pie crust?

More or less, they are the same. This simple quiche recipe instructs to use a refrigerated pie crust which makes it even easier to make.

Should I prebake crust for quiche?

You do not need to blind bake for a quiche, but to avoid a soggy quiche crust, you might want to. The custardy texture of the filling can absorb into the crust causing it to become soggy. Do remember that after blind baking the quiche crust, filling it, and rebaking, the outer edge of crust can easily burn so you will want to keep a close eye on it.

How to reheat quiche

Do you bake the crust of a quiche first?

In this recipe, I do not. I pierce the bottom of the thawed crust and pour everything in. It comes out just the way I like it!

What is quiche

What to Serve with Quiche

Salads and soups (hot or cold) are always a good way to flank a homemade quiche on your brunch or dinner table. Roasted potatoes and asparagus with bacon can also enhance this tasty dish.

Do you blind bake quiche

How Long Should I Bake Quiche?

At 375F, it requires 25 minutes of baking time uncovered. At that point, you’ll want to check things out because you don’t want the crust to get too brown. If it’s looking a bit well-done, cover it with aluminum foil and continue cooking for 10 more minutes.

Do you bake quiche covered or uncovered?

For 25 minutes of the baking time, you will cover your quiche with aluminum foil. For the remaining 10 minutes, you will uncover it so the top can get a nice brown to it.

What temperature should a quiche be cooked at?

Quiche cooks best at 375F so that it’s hot enough to cook through without burning it.

What can I use instead of a quiche dish?

If you make your own quiche crust, you can choose a pie plate, cake pan, springform pan, tart pan, or even a brownie pan. Should you not have any of those things, buying a refrigerated pie crust in its own pan is an easy fix!

Bake crust for quiche

Can You Freeze Quiche?

Yes, you absolutely can. You can freeze it unbaked or after it cools from baking. Just make sure you wrap it well and use it up within a month.

How to Reheat Frozen Quiche

For frozen quiche you can just unwrap it and bake it with aluminum foil. You’ll need to add between 10 and 20 minutes to the baking time though for unbaked quiche. For already baked quiche, you can bake as directed.

If you’re heating up leftover quiche from the fridge, you should also use the oven. You can do it in the microwave, but it will taste better when you wait patiently for it from your oven.
