Funnel Cake is a classic carnival favorite that my kids love! The secret is you can make it fresh at home with this Funnel Cake Recipe! The smell of funnel cake is intoxicating and this easy crispy, fried dessert puts smiles on every ones face.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 5 tbsp powdered sugar (for garnish)
  • strawberries (for garnish)
  • whipped cream (for garnish)
  • vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients. Once combined, add in the dry ingredients except for the flour. Whisk together until combined. Lastly, add in the flour and whisk until entirely smooth and set aside. Pour funnel cake batter into a large liquid measuring cup (this will make it easier to transfer into your plastic squirt bottle). Then pour funnel cake batter into plastic squirt bottle and place cap on.
  • In a deep skillet or pot, heat up about an inch of vegetable oil to 375F. Drizzle batter from the squirt bottle in a continuous thin line and swirl around the pan and overlap. Cook each side for about 2 minute or until the funnel cakes reach a gold brown color.
  • Dust the cakes with powdered sugar, whipped cream, strawberries and serve hot.
