The best quiche recipe is one that is versatile. My goal with this one was to give you a basic formulation for making quiche that never fails. You won’t ever buy one again when you can make quiche yourself with fresh and healthy ingredients you can pronounce!

  • Half and half – This adds a rich and thicker quality when it bakes up.
  • Cheese – Shredded cheese is easiest to distribute. For the best taste, use 2 different types of cheeses!
  • Veggies and meats – While this recipe calls for ham and scallions, you can feel free to omit the meat, add to it, or use different veggies altogether. Ham and cheese quiche is always a favorite and one of the best quiche recipes I’ve ever had!

Grab a ready-to-go refrigerated pie crust and simply prep the ingredients. This recipe uses ingredients you don’t have to cook first so you’ll only be spending 15 minutes prepping. Gluten-free or low-carb and missing quiche? Simply use a greased pie pan and omit the pie crust for a crustless version that will satisfy your soul!

What is quiche?

Quiche is a French dish that uses an unsweetened pie crust as the vessel for holding a mixture of eggs and cream combined with cheese, meats, and vegetables. Breakfast quiche is commonly found in cafes across the US.

What is the difference between quiche and quiche Lorraine?

Quiche Lorraine is simply a bacon quiche recipe. Not all quiche recipes require bacon as an added ingredient, though if you love bacon, you will be sure to love quiche Lorraine!

Can you use milk instead of half and half in quiche?

Traditionally, half and half is used in quiche to help the eggs get that custardy texture. This recipe uses half and half but if you don’t have that, you can use whole milk instead.

What is the best cheese to use for quiche?

Should I prebake crust for quiche?

At 375F, it requires 25 minutes of baking time uncovered. At that point, you’ll want to check things out because you don’t want the crust to get too brown. If it’s looking a bit well-done, cover it with aluminum foil and continue cooking for 10 more minutes.

Do you bake quiche covered or uncovered?

For 25 minutes of the baking time, you will cover your quiche with aluminum foil. For the remaining 10 minutes, you will uncover it so the top can get a nice brown to it.

What temperature should a quiche be cooked at?

Quiche cooks best at 375F so that it’s hot enough to cook through without burning it.

What can I use instead of a quiche dish?

If you make your own quiche crust, you can choose a pie plate, cake pan, springform pan, tart pan, or even a brownie pan. Should you not have any of those things, buying a refrigerated pie crust in its own pan is an easy fix!

Can You Freeze Quiche?

Yes, you absolutely can. You can freeze it unbaked or after it cools from baking. Just make sure you wrap it well and use it up within a month.

How to Reheat Frozen Quiche

For frozen quiche you can just unwrap it and bake it with aluminum foil. You’ll need to add between 10 and 20 minutes to the baking time though for unbaked quiche. For already baked quiche, you can bake as directed.

If you’re heating up leftover quiche from the fridge, you should also use the oven. You can do it in the microwave, but it will taste better when you wait patiently for it from your oven.

This super easy Quiche Recipe is so delicious and simple to make. Quiche is one of my favorites because its so versatile. It works just as well for breakfast as it does for dinner! Feel free to be creative and switch it up with your favorite cheeses, vegetables, or meats to make it perfect suit your taste!

Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust (refrigerated)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup half and half
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked ham (chopped)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 4 tbsp scallions ((green onions))

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375F and place frozen pie dish into refrigerator to thaw.
  • In a large bowl, mix together eggs, half and half, salt and pepper.
  • Once the pie crust is thawed, pierce the bottom with a fork then sprinkle the ham, scallions, and 1 cup of the mozzarella and cheddar mix into the pie crust. Pour the egg mixture over the top and sprinkle the remaining cup of cheese on top.
  • Bake for 25 minutes covered then cover with aluminum foil for the remaining 10 minutes if the crust starts to brown too much.
  • Once the center is completely set, let cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.
